On Monday, January 19th, we will celebrate the Birthday of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dr. King, the foremost leader of the American Civil Rights Movement, was born eighty-six years ago on January 15, 1929. The Civil Rights Movement has struggled and continues to struggle for equal rights for all people, and has a special strength and urgency in the African-American community.
In honor of Dr. King, the University of Michigan hosts a number of events on campus to celebrate and commemorate the life and legacy of one of our nations’ great leaders.
