Happy tooth 2Did you know that February was Children’s Dental Health Month? I’m a big lover of puns, and this “whole tooth” is a good one! Let’s drill down into the good stuff and talk about the whole truth about dental care for you and your family!

Prevention is always best!

I know very few people who enjoy visits to the dentist, but they don’t have to be all bad! But they should be at least once a year! Just like an oil change for your care, a 6-month cleaning at the dentist keeps everything in working order and will save you lots of money in the long run!

When not at the dentist, adhering to the 2 Minutes, 2 Times a Day rule is a solid game plan for your family. Don’t know what I’m talking about? It means to maintain good hygiene, it’s important to brush your teeth twice a day for at least 2 minutes each time.  The point is removing sugars from your mouth that harm your teeth by decaying the enamel. So, brushing after snacking/eating is vital!

The Opening of a new County Clinic!

GREAT NEWS! Washtenaw County’s first Community Dental Clinic is now open!  It’s located at the Haab Health Building (111 North Huron Street in Ypsilanti).  You can schedule an appointment whether you are insured or uninsured, at any age.  Call 877-313-6232.

Dental Cleanings at RAHS?

Here, we have even better news for your family! If your child attends a school with a RAHS health center in it, they can participate in our Mobile Dentist program which provides teeth cleanings and restorative care for students regardless of insurance status.  Each school has a Mobile Dentist visit coming up in either March or April. If you’re interested, please contact your student’s RAHS Health Center for more information.

Keep on smiling those pearly whites!
